Tecno ospita Archivio Carlo Mo

Dal 2 all'8 Marzo, Tecno ospita Archivio Storico Carlo Mo in occasione di Milano MuseoCity. La settimana dedicata all’incontro tra Arte e Design durante la quale la storica sede di P.za XXV Aprile apre le porte alle opere più significative dell’artista pavese.

Il legame con il mondo dell’arte è da sempre uno dei tratti distintivi di ABV, ereditato dal fondatore Osvaldo Borsani.

Accomunano Tecno e Carlo Mo l’innovazione mediata da tradizione e artigianalità, l’affinità per i materiali industriali come l’acciaio inox, l’integrazione tra forma e spazio che caratterizza l’abitare degli spazi pubblici nella città di Milano. Nell’esposizione creata Mo è rappresentato in molte sue sfaccettature: sculture, microfusioni, disegni e bozzetti di grandi opere. Un percorso che testimonia la continua ricerca tra forme e superfici affidata all’impiego dei diversi materiali: dal filo di rame, che iniziò ad usare non avendo più carta per disegnare, dove il vuoto diviene pieno; all’uso del corten, per arrivare all’acciaio saldato e scatolato. Un piccolo archivio di un artista a tutto tondo. Un dialogo tra creatività e innovazione che nel 1991 diede alla luce, per la collezione ABV Chip, la seduta progettata da Carlo Mo per Tecno, collezione ABV 1991. Non una scultura su cui sedersi, ma la visione dell’artista di un arredo in cui ritrovare sé stessi e che suggella in modo definitivo il grande rapporto di Carlo Mo con l’arte africana.

 In the exhibition path at the Tecno headquarters, some of the first works in copper wire are displayed, along with others in corten steel, up to those in welded and boxed steel that Mo often used in the following years.

'Amore' is one of the most representative pieces from this period.

Defined by Guido Ballo as a constructivist sculptor, he was born in Piovene Rocchette (VI) on March 9, 1923. He spent his childhood in Genoa before moving to Pavia. Philipe Daverio said of him: "He becomes the protagonist of an august and

severe path, followed by many others with far less intelligence. It is the path of an artistic hypothesis in which pure thought, mathematical thought, the atavistic form, Euclidean form, and the industrious sensitivity for materials generate an artistic language that invents a new world—one that has never existed before but has always been foreseen: the concreteness of intellect."

Mo's works are preserved in many cities in Italy and abroad. An eclectic artist—painter, sculptor, and master draftsman—his talent was well known to his students at NABA, where he taught for many years. The Aula Magna of the academy is named in his honor. As part of the Milano Museo City event, Mo is represented in many of his artistic dimensions through sculptures, micro- castings, drawings, and sketches of major works. Particularly interesting is his evolving use of materials in his constant exploration of forms and surfaces: from copper wire, which he initially used due to a lack of paper for drawing—where emptiness becomes fullness—to corten steel, and finally to welded and boxed steel. This small archive presents a well-rounded artist. The Chip seat, designed for Tecno, definitively seals Carlo Mo’s deep connection with African art. The Permanent Exhibition of Carlo Mo is located in Pavia. Upon entering, one cannot help but recall what Kengiro Azuma wrote about him: "Carlo Mo’s sculpture is his poetry."
